Where the heck did summer go?!?! Well I suppose if you’re like us you enjoy all 4 seasons and with fall comes cool mornings, and I love feeling that morning chill disappear as my hands are warmed by that first cup of fresh brew! If you haven’t been to the site in awhile there are a few new changes here and there, and you’ll find some great new additions to our coffee selection in our online store, a few of which I’ll highlight in this blog.

First up we added a direct trade Guatemala (Dulce Leonardo) to our offering list. Grown on the Gustavo Mauricio Tello family estate in the La Libertatd region of Huehuetenango near the small village of La Mesilla, Guatemala, at an elevation of 5,000 to 5,400 feet, this Bourbon, Catuai and Caturra cultivar coffee is wet milled at the farm and dry milled in Esquintla at the exporter’s mill. Production of this 100% shade grown coffee from the 240 hectare family farm is limited to approximately 1,000 bags per year. What’s even better is that for every bag of green coffee that we buy 10% of the profits go back to help the children in this area though a ministry called Potters Field Kids! So drink up 🙂

The second coffee that I’d like to detail for you is our Growers First Honduras, and soon to arrive Mexican Oaxaca. Founder of Growers First, Dave Day, has done some remarkable work in Honduras and Mexico and we are proud to offer these great coffees to you that are truly transforming lives in those regions. Growers First puts the grower first while also focusing on other needs in the community from education, to health and wellness, to working with local faith leaders and the communities’ spiritual well-being. If you’re like us you really want to know and understand the changes that are taking place when you purchase coffee with such a great story so Dave has a nice page up where you can learn about the farmers. You’ll find these coffee’s in some of our blends and as single origins in our online store.

I hope you enjoyed reading about a few of our truly great coffees! There are also a few others that we have recently added to our list. A rustic Sumatra Mandheling with classic flavors of bakers chocolate, pecans, and sweet earthiness, of which I’ve been drinking too many french presses of! And a nice Brazil – Prima Qualita- that is incorporated into most all of our blends adding a smooth body and sweet nuttiness.

Look for our wholesale link to be up in the next few weeks! We are thrilled to be able to start offering our coffees to other businesses for re-sale! So, if you know of a place in your neck of the woods that would like to carry our coffee (easier for you, you get to skip shipping!) direct them our to our webpage for more info.

Coming up in the next few months we’re also looking forward to bringing you a fun Thanksgiving Blend, and then some Christmas gift bundles! We also have some more new coffee coming your way! Look for our direct trade Ethiopian Harrar (from Dominion), a fine Nicaraguan coffee, and a Papa New Guinea Purosa! Who’s excited!?!

Happy Fall!
